Al Hammadi: "Sports Day contributes to building a prosperous and healthy and safe society"

United Development Company (UDC), one of Qatar's leading public shareholding companies and the master developer of The Pearl and Gewan Islands, celebrated National Sports Day with the participation of the General Retirement and Social Security Authority (GPRSA), Qatar District Cooling Company (Qatar Cool), Ronautica Middle East and Corinthia Group.
The events were held in the Qanat Quartier, Costa Sanctuary and Porto Arabia simultaneously, where staff, residents and visitors of all ages participated in a variety of sports and recreational activities that included fitness exercises, challenge games, as well as fun activities for children and other activities aimed at promoting healthy patterns in participants, urging them to adopt sound sports practices.
The event was attended by: His Excellency Mr. Ahmed bin Ali Al Hammadi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of United Development Company and Director of GRSIA, Mr. Ibrahim Jassim Al-Othman, CEO and Board Member of United Development Company, Mr. Yasser Al-Jaida, CEO of Qatar Cool, Mr. Robin Mifsud, General Manager of Corinthia Hotels in Doha, along with members of the executive management, senior officials and employees from all participating entities, who enthusiastically participated in a group walk and sports challenges. Variety held in Porto Arabia.
UDC partners at Rozgar Healthcare also participated in the ceremony, the operators of The Pearl International Hospital: Dr. Volkan Oygunuchürlar, CEO, and Mr. Emir Erdoğan, Chief Operating Officer.
This year's celebrations included golf classes and other family and entertainment events held on Gewan Island, specifically at Corinthia Golf Club, a prestigious sports and hospitality facility serving guests of the neighbouring Corinthia Hotel as well as golf enthusiasts in general.
On this occasion, His Excellency Mr. Ahmed bin Ali Al Hammadi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of United Development Company and General Director GRSIA, stressed that Sports Day enhances awareness of the importance of sports, fitness and health for all segments of society and consolidates sports as a culture and lifestyle, which contributes to building a prosperous society that enjoys health and safety
The State of Qatar consolidates sports as a culture and way of life and has been proactive in raising the status of sports through its National Vision 2030 and its National Development Strategy, as Sports Day promotes awareness of the concept of health and safety," His Excellency said.
Mr. Ibrahim Jassim Al-Othman, CEO and Board Member of UDC, said: "In line with the human development pillar of the Qatar National Vision, UDC places the utmost importance on health and sports as drivers of positive social change, promoting an active lifestyle, and fostering a healthy mind.
